This project is part of the elective course 'Contemporary Architecture Theory,' with the task of creating a model of a chair that reflects contemporary meaning. Therefore, I began my first algorithm art project, pondering if this 'contemporary' aspect could be objectively viewed by a 'third party.'
Initially, I created a crawler to collect over 2000 images of chairs from the web.
Next, using a GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) model, I loaded and analyzed these chair images, eventually generating and outputting a chair that reflects contemporary meaning.
Aspect I requested from it was not just for the algorithm to automatically analyze and output a 'chair,' but to continuously iterate by feeding the chair generated in the previous generation into a new analysis cycle. Thus, it's constantly updated, iterated, self-negated, and reconstructing its recognition."
After hundreds of analyses and iterations, the output gradually shifted from images completely unrelated to chairs to something resembling a chair.
